THE RELATION WITH CARS

It may seem commonplace to talk about traffic problems with who is choked by smog during a large part of the year.

Often tourism tends to recreate the typical environments of the town even in the most pleasant resorts and to export the worst aspects of our society.

It is sufficient to think at a beautiful place as Cortina choked by smog.

We conceived La Francesca so that our hosts were given the opportunity to escape cars.

Tourists arriving by train can spend all their stay without troubles, and those arriving with their cars may use them to arrive and go away, after parking it in the shade of the trees.

The road

La Francesca has built the access road, today named after Gloria De Poli, so that the environmental impact is minimised.

In practice, the wood has now swallowed it and makes it invisible from the outside.

Have a look at the green tunnel that welcomes you as soon as you pass the gate.

Our effort to minimise the area concerned by the road has unfortunately made it very steep.

We are perfectly aware that the first slope is too slanted, but make it less slanted would have meant a deep wound in the Punta Garagliano.

Crossings

It is not necessary to cross any road to go to the beach. It is normal for us, but it is a very uncommon reality.

Cars do not cross the Village.

A little effort to carry the luggage when arriving or going away, but then an exceptional advantage, which above all benefits the children who are not in danger.

Cars far from the houses are a benefit for all of us, also in terms of emissions and noise.

Car parks

Building a car park often causes two types of damages to the environment: the elimination of obstacles to the movements of cars (such as trees) and the water-proofing of the ground using asphalt. Besides the creation of wide level areas changes the place morphology.

We followed a different path. We did not level off anything, we did not water-proof the ground, we took advantage from the trees to keep the spaces in shade.

The result is a car park which is perhaps a little untidy, but enough for all and which has not caused irreparable damages to the used area. And when the cars go away nature takes again possession of the place with a green rich in flowers and animals.
